Walk the Goldfields

Love to walk? The Goldfields Track is an adventure through nature and time!
The Goldfields Track is an adventure set in Dja Dja Wurrung and Wadawurrung Country overlaid with the rich heritage of nineteenth-century gold mining—capturing both the triumphs and challenges of the past. It is Victoria’s longest shared track. Walking from Mount Buninyong to Bendigo is a fantastic way to take in the changes across the landscape and to stop and see the many points of history and culture along the way. There are very few places in Australia – or the world – that can offer such an experience, so close to towns and transport, and yet feel like it is so far from anywhere.

Try the Goldfields Track in one multi-day journey (roughly eight or nine days) or walk it in sections – Leanganook Track, Dry Diggings Track, Wallaby Track, Eureka Track; or try a family-friendly short walk.

The Goldfields Track has something for everyone, for example, the Track goes through the Castlemaine Digging National Heritage Park, which is a core part of the Victorian Goldfields World Heritage Nomination. For more information about the Park, visit: Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park.
