Section of Wallaby Track closed from 9 Feb 2026

Thinning harvest scheduled at the Creswick Pine Plantation (HVP Plantations)

HVP Plantations has scheduled a thinning harvest at the Creswick Pine Plantation starting on Monday 9 February 2026. The operation will be ongoing over a period of 3-4 weeks.

The thinning operation is located adjacent to roads including The Freeway Circuit and East West Road. Roads around the operation will remain closed for safety reasons during the operation.  Large machinery and tree harvesting will occur near the road edge and the loading of trucks will occur on the road.

During the operation sections of the Djuwang Baring (Creswick Trails) mountain bike tracks will be closed. Please see https://www.djuwangbaring.com/ for further details.

A section of the Goldfields Track (Wallaby Track) will have a detour in place, continuing along Jackass Road.

Harvesting and delivery contractors have been instructed to do their best to minimise, as far as is practical, the impacts on local residents. HVP is implementing a haulage curfew of 6:30am – 6:00pm in consideration of residents in the vacinity of Water St.

Residents are also advised that log trucks will be using local roads, including Brackenbury Road and Water Street. Due care should be exercised on roads of the plantation, at road intersections and at points of truck access and egress from the plantation onto local roads. Please observe all safety signs.
